Pregnancy & Post-Natal Massage

Pregnancy is a time in a woman’s life like no other. Her body is undergoing many changes and new developments which will likely challenge her body and mind in different ways.

Pregnancy massage is here to provide support along this journey of the different stages of pregnancy, as well as delivery, and also to promote the connection between mum and baby.

This is a side-lying treatment supported by pillows and bolsters to help relieve muscle tension, reduce excess fluid retention, and create space for mum to decompress.

Pregnancy Massage

All women will experience pregnancy differently but there are common discomforts which remedial massage therapy can address including:

  • Low back, hip and pelvis pain
  • Sciatica
  • Swelling and Water Retention
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Neck and shoulder pain

According to research gathered by the American Massage Therapists Association, prenatal massage has been shown to specifically help with:

  • Alleviating back and leg pain
  • Reducing labour pain during childbirth
  • Lessening post-operative pain
  • Reducing anxiety and stress
  • Improving mood and lifting depression
  • Easing insomnia

Each treatment is guided by what you would like from the treatment and what feels good for you. Using a combination of remedial techniques combined with soothing strokes, this massage will leave you feeling pampered and soothe any pain you are experiencing.

Post-Natal Massage Therapy

A restorative and relaxing massage for mums who have recently had their babies. This massage helps to relax and rejuvenate muscles that have been over-worked and stretched during pregnancy and labour.

During pregnancy the body goes through an immense connective tissue muscle change as well as hormonal change and is put under strain internally and externally for over 6 months.  Massage can help bring the body back to rebalance by:

  • Addressing muscular aches and pains from pregnancy and delivery.

  • Aiding muscular aches and pains from the new activity of breastfeeding and carrying a small child.

  • Aiding the recovery of Diastasis Recti

  • Aiding recovery of SPD or Sacral Dysfunction

  • Relaxing the nervous system

  • Improving Sleep

  • Helping hormone levels to rebalance

If breastfeeding, this will be a side-lying treatment supported by pillows and bolsters to help relieve muscle tension.
